SOWING THE SEEDS FOR SUCCESS!

THE STUDENTS WE SERVE

Today’s students are faced with a myriad of barriers they must overcome to achieve higher education access and ultimately success, particularly for students from underrepresented populations and low-income backgrounds. The rising cost of a college degree coupled with an increase in living expenses in our area; the ability to juggle part-time or full-time work on top of a degree; transportation challenges; and balancing children and familial obligations are examples of barriers that impact students’ ability to access higher education and persist through graduation.

OUR SOLUTION

The Women’s Club of Great Falls Scholarship Fund raises money to fund yearly scholarships that help deserving Northern Virginia students prepare for and complete their educational goals in a timely and financially prudent manner.

GROWING OUR FUTURE

OUR MISSION

The Women’s Club of Great Falls Scholarship Fund strategic plan provides the direction for where we are going by connecting our organizational resources with our vision and goals. It also serves as a vehicle for effective decision making, resource allocation, and execution of our plan.

We are focused on the big picture, which keeps us accountable for results over time, provides inspiration to our many volunteers and keeps financial resources in line with organizational priorities. Additionally, it demonstrates how we are meeting our mission.

NEW TO OUR GIVING PORTFOLIO!

EIP SCHOLARSHIP (GMU EARLY IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM)

We identified the (GMU) Early identification Program as the first focus of a revamped scholarship fundraising in our 2022/2023 efforts. EIP’s mission is to equip younger middle school students with the knowledge, skills, and intellect to become lifelong learners, leaders, and responsible global citizens.

This scholarship will support EIP alumni enrolling at Mason, ensuring more first generation EIP students can pursue their dreams of attending college. We believe we now have a seamless pathway for students to a four-year degree.

Holly Ann Kuga

HOLLY ANN KUGA AWARD

The Holly Ann Kuga Scholarship was established in 2021, in memory of our dear friend Holly Ann Kuga. She was a long-time member of the Women’s Club of Great Falls and supporter of the Scholarship Fund.

To ensure her legacy, the Scholarship Fund dedicated the 2021 Spring Tea, and funds, to create a scholarship in her name. Along with contributions from the Women’s Club of Great Falls, her family and friends, we raised over $32,500. We used these funds to create the Holly Ann Kuga Endowment at GMU, to ensure her scholarship would be in perpetuity.

In 2022 Katie Kuga Wenner introduced her student of choice to be awarded her Mother's Scholarship for 2022-23.
